Osama bin laden

Osama bin Laden; Also spelled (Usmah ibn Ldin). Was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on March 10, 1957. Bin Laden’s father was Mohammed Awad bin Laden, who was a construction billionaire. His mother, Alia Ghanem, was the 10th wife of Mohammed. Bin Laden as one of 50 children in his family. However, he was the only child of his mother, Alia.

Education

Osama attended Al thagher Model schoolat which was a very high scholar high school at the time. He was a well knows outstanding student and as a reward, he was given a personal intimation to join a small islamic study group. By the end of his high school career, the group lost its initial focus of studying and began gaining education of the principles of violent jihad. He graduated from there in 1976. After high school, Osama went to King Abdul Aziz University in jeddah. Osama received a degree in Public administration. He graduated the University in 1981.

Military

When the Soviet Union attacked Afghanistan in 1979, Osama decided to join the Afghan resistance. He was fighting under the US aid during Operation Cyclone. Osama started to train with the Mujahideen, which was a group of islamic jihadists. After the Soviets withdrew from the country, Osama returned to Saudi Arabia as a hero. Osama began to work with the Saudi government and learned about the corrupt ways. He was very disappointed and began to speak publicly about the Saudi government. The saudi government could not get him to stop, so they sent him to exile in sudan in 1992.In 1993, Osama had formed a group that was highly secret called al-Qaeda. Osama began planning about violent attacks with hope of drawing the United States into a war. Saudi Arabia heard of all these actions and in 1994, Saudi exiled from the entire country it’s self and told him never to return. He took cover in Afghanistan and was protected by the Taliban militia. During his time of being protected by the Taliban Militia, he released a series of statements, which in the end declared a holy war against the US.Osama bin Laden went into hiding for 10 years after the former president Bush successfully overthrew the Taliban.

al-qaeda

al-Qaeda is Arabic for “the Base” and is a terrorist group formed by Osama bin Laden. The goal of the group is go get rid of Muslim rule and replace them with Islamic regimes. al-Qaeda has spread thoughout the world in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Southeast, and Central America. All working together to carry out attacks. al-Qaeda is know for being responsible for major attacks and events that involve mass murder.

June 1996: A truck loaded with explosives destroyed a building at the US military base of Khobar in Saudi Arabia. Nineteen American servicemen were killed and 386 were wounded.
August 1998 bombings of the U.S. embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
October 2000 U.S.S. Cole bombing.
September 11, 2001, hijacking attacks on four U.S. airplanes, two of which crashed into the World Trade Center, and a third of which crashed into the Pentagon.
Many spring 2002 bombings in Pakistan.
October 2002 attack on a French tanker off the coast of Yemen.
November 2002 car bomb attack and a failed attempt to shoot down an Israeli jetliner with shoulder-fired missiles, both in Mombasa, Kenya.
May 2003 car bomb attacks on three residential compounds in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
March 2004 bomb attacks on Madrid commuter trains, which killed nearly 200 people and left more than 1,800 injured.
July 2005 bombings of the London public transportation system.
February 2006 attack on the Abqaiq petroleum processing facility, the largest such facility in the world, in Saudi Arabia

Death

President Obama made an announcement on May 1st 2011 Osama bin Laden has been at a old mansion hid out in Abbottabad, Pakistan. He was killed by a special team of Navy Seals and the planning for this attack had taken 8 months to plan. Osama bin Laden was shot several times, the one killing him was strait to the head. His body was taken and tests were done to make sure it was truly Osama. The test results showed that the confirmed kill was Osama bin Laden as indicated. The body was then taken and dumped in the ocean. This is considered on of the most significant accomplishments to the United States in defeating al-Qaeda.
